Rabies concerns kept Ocean Reef Park on Singer Island closed Monday, while
animal control officers were attempting to catch feral cats. The park,
originally scheduled to reopen on Saturday, will remain closed until animal
control workers are able to capture more feral cats, said Dr. Alina Alonso,
clinical services director for the Palm Beach County Health Department. There
have been 22 reported cases of rabies in Palm Beach County this year, the most
since 1953. Officials have issued a rabies alert for areas north of Lantana
Road.

Residents who trap feral cats in Hollywood
can have them sterilized and vaccinated against rabies through a free Broward
County program. Broward County 's Animal Care and Adoption Division is
conducting a trap, neuter and return pilot project in the 33019 and
33020 zip codes in Hollywood. Two clinics are providing the no-cost
spaying, neutering and rabies vaccinations. No appointment is necessary. Feral
cats confined in carriers may be dropped off Tuesday through Saturday between 8
and 8:30 a.m. at the Humane Society of Broward County , 2070 Griffin Road, Fort
Lauderdale.

The squirrels are already breaking into houses to get ready to have their
litters. Flying squirrels are the second hardest to keep out of all of the
squirrels and other animals. They are persistent but bats are even harder to
keep out. Gray squirrels will chew through anything on a building to get into
the structure. Raccoons will tear wood open with their teeth and their strength
allows them to tear whole boards off the sides of buildings. the will tear the
louvers of a gable end vent right off the house. When you have a problem with an

Upon learning about the raccoons living in my
attic, I called a different local trapper. After more than a week of unsuccessful
results, I began looking for a trapper with a more effective approach.
I
learned of Brian’s innovative, humane techniques and immediately switched
trappers. Within a day, Brian had already inspected my attic, set up his traps,
and installed his unique raccoon-rerouting method at my home. By the next day
Brian had trapped one HUGE raccoon that was prowling around the entrance to the
hole the raccoons had made in a soffit. Brian relocated this raccoon. The same
day he captured four infant raccoons within the attic. One day later, the
mother raccoon left my attic, reunited with her babies, and relocated her
